Clear Aligners in La Palma

What is the difference between traditional braces & clear aligners? In this video, Dr. Scarlet Vasa takes the time to discuss this topic!

In this video. Dr. Scarlet Vasa discusses at-home and DIY-aligners and how effective they are when compared to Invisalign or other clear aligners.

What are Clear Aligners?

Clear Aligners are an orthodontic treatment option that aims to improve the alignment of patients’ smiles. If your teeth are crooked or crowded, you may be looking for a relatively noninvasive and inconspicuous way to straighten them. Clear aligners are comfortable and easily removable. Treatment is quicker than traditional braces, and clear aligners are ideal for adults who need orthodontic treatment but who don’t want to wear metal braces.

Why would Clear Aligners be needed?

The reason you might need or want clear aligners is because your teeth are less than perfect. They might be crowded, crooked or unevenly spaced, and you might have a malocclusion like an overbite or underbite. Regardless of your current smile problems, clear aligners are designed to correct the situation so that you can feel confident in your appearance. By realigning your smile, it’s easier to care for your teeth and floss between them.

Who is a candidate for Clear Aligners?

Most patients who need orthodontic treatment are good candidates for clear aligners. If you need additional work, you may require other appliances prior to being fitted with clear aligners. Clear aligners are best for teens and adults who can commit to treatment and who can remember to replace the aligners after they’ve been removed. The process is quick and easy, but you should still be able to make your regular orthodontic appointments so that treatment isn’t stalled.

What happens during the Clear Aligner process?

The clear aligner treatment process begins with a consultation so that we can get to know you. We take impressions so that we are able to create your first set of clear aligners. You will need to wear these aligners for about 22 hours every day, only removing them to brush, floss and eat. You will come back in after a few weeks to have new clear aligner trays made for you. Over the course of treatment, you’ll be fitted with multiple clear aligner trays as your teeth begin to align and shift into place. At our office we are happy to offer both Invisalign and Clear Correct.
